3 Band NHS Treatments
We are proud to offer treatments on the NHS. There are three categories under which all NHS treatments fall: Band 1, Band 2 and Band 3. These are set charges for each course of treatment – (exceptions apply and you will be notified during the course of your treatment)
The NHS will be increasing Dental fees from 1st April 2017.Your options on the NHS You do not have to pay a dental charge:
- to have your dentures repaired (sometimes it is not possible to repair dentures and a new denture may be required, which you would need to pay for as a Band 3 charge)
- for having stitches out
- if your dentist has to stop bleeding from your mouth
- if your dentist only needs to write a prescription, although if you pay for prescriptions you will still need to pay the usual charge when you collect your medicine from your pharmacist
If you are referred to another dentist within the practice whilst you are undergoing a course of treatment you will only pay one charge. However – if you are referred to an external dentist or specialist, further charges will apply as it will be regarded as a separate course of treatment. The amount you need to pay will always be discussed with you by your dentist beforehand. All charges for NHS treatment will be collected at the start of the course of treatment before any treatment is carried out. How to claim a refund of NHS charges If you have paid for NHS treatment but later found out that you were actually entitled to have it free or at a reduced rate, you can claim a refund of the NHS charge. This will need to be requested within three months of the date that you paid for your treatment and cannot be claimed directly from the practice. To find out how to claim a refund in this event you can visit the NHS choices website. Comments and complaints We welcome feedback from all of our patients and listen closely to what you tell us.
